RFID Gate Reader

Access · Dock Automation · UHF RFID

Every Tagged Vehicle or Carton, Read Automatically.

An RFID gate reader turns any doorway, dock or lane into an automatic checkpoint. Mounted with directional antennas, it reads every UHF-tagged vehicle, pallet or asset that passes — no hand scanning, no stopping — and logs the movement in real time. Identium manufactures UHF gate readers tuned for India’s 865–867 MHz band, WPC-approved and BIS certified.

Where gate readers are used

  • Vehicle entry & parking. Paired with tamper-evident windshield tags, the reader opens a boom barrier in under a second — the backbone of RFID vehicle & parking management for societies, campuses and malls.
  • Warehouse docks. A gate/portal at each shutter reads whole pallets on the move, automating goods-in and dispatch and killing manual carton scanning.
  • Access control. Doorway readers log people and assets moving between zones for access and security.
  • Asset movement. Track high-value assets as they leave or return to a controlled area.

What makes a good gate reader

  • Long range and high output power for a reliable read across the full lane or doorway.
  • Directional (circular-polarised) antennas so tags read regardless of orientation. See our RFID antennas.
  • Multi-port support to cover both sides of a lane or several doors from one reader.
  • Clean integration — relay outputs to trigger barriers/turnstiles, plus an SDK and demo source code for your software.
  • India-tuned & certified — locked to 865–867 MHz, WPC-approved, BIS certified.

Frequently asked questions

What is an RFID gate reader?

An RFID gate reader is a fixed UHF reader mounted at a doorway, dock or lane with directional antennas, so it automatically reads every tagged item or vehicle passing through - no scanning by hand. It is the core of gate access, dock automation and vehicle entry systems.

What read range does a UHF gate reader give?

Typically up to about 10 metres for vehicle windshield tags with a directional antenna, and a few metres across a doorway or dock for cartons and assets, depending on tag and antenna placement.

How much does an RFID gate reader cost in India?

Price depends on the reader (ports, output power, integrated vs external antenna), the number of antennas and quantity. As the manufacturer we quote factory-direct pricing - share your lane or doorway count for a quote.

Is the gate reader tuned for India's frequency band?

Yes. Our UHF gate readers are WPC-approved for India's 865-867 MHz band and BIS certified, and ship configured for it.

Can it integrate with a boom barrier or access system?

Yes. The reader triggers a boom-barrier controller, turnstile or access-control system on a valid read, and its logs feed your security or WMS dashboard through the SDK.
