Choosing the Right RFID Wearables and Smart Wristbands
Specifying RFID wearables and smart wristbands starts with the operating frequency, because it sets both the read range and how the band is used in practice. LF (125 kHz) and HF/NFC (13.56 MHz) are read at very close range — a few centimetres — which suits tap-to-enter access, cashless NFC payment tills and patient identification, where a deliberate tap avoids stray reads. UHF bands read from a metre or more, useful for hands-free lane entry and chip-based race timing. Material matters as much as the chip. Silicone bands are reusable and comfortable for staff and members; PVC snap bands suit multi-day event and festival wristbands; Tyvek is a low-cost single-use option. Each is encoded — and where required printed with names, logos, QR codes or sequential numbers — in-house before dispatch. Silicone, PVC, Tyvek and fabric bands start from about Rs 15/unit (2026-indicative, volume-dependent), with roughly 2,500 PVC or Tyvek bands producible in about two days.
