Selecting an RFID windshield tag for vehicle access in India comes down to matching the tag to your reader, your gate geometry and your enrolment process. These are passive UHF (865-867 MHz) tags read by a fixed reader and antenna at the boundary, so they need no battery, and unlike FASTag there is no prepaid balance to keep topped up — one tamper-evident sticker per vehicle is enough for gated communities, corporate campuses, industrial estates and paid parking. Because the tag sits inside the windshield, mount your antenna to cover the approach lane and expect an effective read of up to roughly 8 m depending on the reader, glass and metallised coatings; heat-reflective (metallic) windscreens attenuate UHF, so verify read performance during a site trial. Encode the EPC to your resident or employee database so entitlements can be revoked instantly if a car is sold or a lease ends — the tag tears on removal, preventing transfer to another vehicle.
