Choosing the right NFC/HF chip, antenna and form factor
HF and NFC tags both operate at 13.56 MHz, but the chip you choose decides what the tag can actually do. As an NFC and HF RFID tag manufacturer in India, we match the inlay to the job: NTAG213 for tap-to-verify and NDEF URLs a phone can read, NXP Mifare Classic (S50/1K) for access cards, Ultralight for high-volume disposable tickets, and DESFire EV1 where encrypted, keyed security matters. F08 remains a budget option for closed-loop systems. Read range at these frequencies is short by design — typically a few centimetres — which is what makes NFC well suited to secure, one-tag-at-a-time reads for payments, authentication and access rather than bulk scanning.
Form factor matters as much as the chip, because the antenna has to suit both the housing and the surface behind it. A thin PET or polyester inlay laminates cleanly into a label or card; an ABS or anti-metal ABS tag can be riveted, cable-tied or glued to equipment and still reads on metal that would otherwise detune a bare HF antenna; a keyfob suits reusable credentials. The chips we use follow the ISO 14443 standards behind NFC, and as a BIS-certified manufacturer we test every batch in-house before dispatch.
