RFID Laundry tags

A washable laundry tag protects the chip and antenna from water, heat and mechanical stress using a sealed housing rather than a paper or PET label. Identium's tags are built in silicone, TPU or PPS and finished with ultrasonic sealing and epoxy potting, so they are designed to withstand 250+ wash cycles. Actual life depends on wash temperature, chemistry and how the tag is attached, so we tune the construction to your process.

It depends on how you read the linen. UHF is usually preferred for bulk sorting because a fixed or handheld reader can count a full trolley or bag of garments at once, typically at a few metres. HF and LF are read at close range, a few centimetres, which suits item-level checkout counters where each garment passes the reader individually. Common methods are sewing a flexible silicone or fabric tag into a hem or seam, heat-sealing a thin TPU tag into the fabric, or inserting a tag into a stitched pocket. For high-temperature ironing lines we typically recommend a rigid PPS construction. We can advise the best attachment for uniforms, towels, bedsheets or gowns based on how the item is laundered and finished.

High-temperature calendering and perchloroethylene dry-cleaning are demanding, so material choice matters. PPS-bodied tags are generally specified for garments that pass through hot ironing rollers, while sealed silicone and TPU tags handle standard industrial washing. Because results vary with temperature and solvent exposure, we suggest sharing your exact process so we can recommend a suitable construction and, where needed, sample tags for trial.
