Choosing the Right RFID Carpet Tag: Material, Attachment and Read Range
As a carpet RFID tag manufacturer in India, Identium builds tags around how carpets are actually handled — rolled, stacked, cleaned and shipped. For most rugs and floor coverings we recommend passive UHF tags, which typically read up to ~10–15 m from a fixed reader and ~3–8 m on a handheld reader, letting showroom staff inventory a whole stacked pile without unrolling each piece. Soft polyester labels can be bonded into the backing with adhesive or epoxy, while tougher hard tags in ABS or PPS — fixed by riveting or cable-tie — suit heavy commercial carpet that faces rough handling.
Because carpets are dense and often stored edge-to-edge, read range drops when a tag sits deep inside a tightly packed stack; orienting the label toward the aisle and scoping read points to the environment helps recovery. For rugs that are washed or steam-cleaned, we can supply sealed, washable RFID tags that survive moisture and repeated cleaning cycles. Each tag can carry a laser-marked serial or brand mark for warranty and inventory lookup, with a 5–10 day turnaround on customised runs.
